Mark Taylor: Litigation Partner
Mark is a Partner in our Litigation department and opened Cunningtons’ Hastings branch in August 2025. He acts in complex commercial and general litigation matters for both corporate and private clients.
Mark trained at a well-regarded West End firm and qualified in 2007, moving to a City firm as a newly qualified solicitor, specialising in commercial and general litigation. After many years in London, he and his fiancée moved to Essex to settle down. He later relocated to the south coast, extending the firm’s presence in the South East.
He particularly enjoys working with both corporate and private clients with challenging and often complex and novel disputes. Mark’s clients benefit from his attention to detail and willingness to work closely and collaboratively with them, striving to achieve their desired outcome whilst remaining objective and considering the position from all angles.
Mark’s work spans breach of contract, misrepresentation, partnership and other commercial disputes, commercial and residential landlord and tenant matters, as well as a wide range of property disputes. He also acts in contentious probate, including challenges to the validity of a Will and Inheritance Act claims, and advises both employers and employees on employment matters. Mark is a member of the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association, an area in which he has a particular interest.
He has several reported cases and a track record of resolving novel and difficult matters. In one reported case concerning a patent licence, the court first held that a solicitor had a duty to correct an opposing solicitor’s mistake, a position a later case revised. He has secured a significant recovery on the then-novel argument of a loss of reproductive autonomy following negligent advice around IVF treatment, and has recovered substantial damages arising from negligent advice on a property development that was threatened with an injunction over restrictive covenants.
Mark also deals with employment law matters, advising both employees and employers on contentious and non-contentious matters.
